Description
A splendid, original ‘FK84’ armchair by Fabricius and Kastholm in black woven fabric. It has a three-star, chrome-plated base and a wooden back panel and under-seat, c. 1960-1969.
The wood and the fabric have been cleaned and are in good condition, commensurate with age. Beautiful to look at, its comfortable and ample seat invites you to sit. Perfect for a study or as a feature piece in a sitting room.
Preben Juhl Fabricius (1931-1984) and Jørgen Kastholm (1931-2007) whose mutual mission was to make form a pure derivative of function.
Both were architects and graduated from the Danish School of Interior Design, where they studied under Finn Juhl and subsequently with Arne Jacobsen.
Whilst they partnered for less than a decade, creating only a handful of designs, Fabricius & Kastholm left a legacy of work that is honoured in museums around the world — from the Museu de Arte in São Paulo to MoMA in New York and the Musée d`Art Moderne in Paris.
