A highly sought-after, mid-century “Put-u-up” Style sofa-bed by Greaves & Thomas. English circa 1960.
All our furniture is fully restored and reupholstered before being offered for sale. In this instance, the sofa has been completely re-built from the frame up, with fresh fire-compliant foam, new padding and fire retardant calico.
The new upholstery is an exquisite fabric from Misia, Paris.
In our photographs we have attempted to capture the ‘copper’ thread that has been spun throughout the weave; this thread adds a beautiful, yet subtle, sheen.
Greaves & Thomas, founded in the 1900s, is a furniture brand that is sought-after for its high-quality and streamlined design aesthetic. In the 1950s and 1960s, the company worked with the best designers; one of the most famous of these was Walter Cornell. His designs were influenced by Scandinavian simplicity and clean, elegant lines.
