An Oak Gothic Revival Ecclesiastical Chair

Fully restored and reupholstered in a remarkable fabric, by Jean-Paul Gaultier. Angels gather, in their signature striped Gaultier tees. Beautifully drawn with so much detail and joyful colours.

The chair would make a daring and unique statement in any home. Two chairs are available, each with a different design. The piece has been hand–finished with trim and studs from Houlès, Paris.

Drawing inspiration from medieval architecture, the Gothic Revival competed simultaneously with the Neo-Classical style. The former was more about ornamentation and decoration rather than practicality and functionality; more about depicting romanticism.

Jean-Paul Gaultier, known as the ‘enfant terrible’ of the fashion world, is renowned for his avant-garde and progressive designs. His collaboration with Lelievre successfully unites haute couture with interior design.

Now in its fourth generation, Lelievre is a design studio and creator of fine fabrics that was established in 1914 at 36 rue des Petits Champs, Paris.

In the 1980s, Lelievre exclusively distributed Alcantara; this is used today as a luxury lining in a selection of bags designed by Louis Vuitton, Paris.

Houlès designs and creates the finest of trimmings and fabrics. This family-owned company was formed in Paris, by father and son Félix and André Houlès, in 1928. The company, which began with one store at 18 rue Saint-Nicolas, is now established in over 160 countries.

Presidential residences and castles, such as le Château de Versailles, often select Houlès’ passements for their restoration projects.
