Description
An impressive Art Nouveau, inlaid, mahogany armchair. It has been fully restored and upholstered in an exquisite, raised velvet by Nobilis, Paris. Many hours were spent re-webbing and re-stuffing the seat with horsehair (held by bridle ties), fresh hessian, new cotton felt and FR calico, then hand-finished with trim by Houlès, Paris.
The arch top rail above a pierced, back splat with decorative inlay.
Since its incorporation in 1928, the French fabric house of Nobilis has utilised its vast experience to produce a diverse range of designs; from the traditional to the modern. French elegance emanates from their fabric, rugs, furniture and wallpaper collections.
Houlès designs and creates the finest of passementerie and fabrics. Still family-owned, it was founded in Paris by father and son Félix and André Houlès in 1928. The company, which began with one store at 18 rue Saint-Nicolas, is now established in over 160 countries.
Presidential residences and castles, such as le Château de Versailles, often select Houlès’ passements for their restoration projects.
