Description

Sympathetically restored using time-honoured techniques, this Carl Malmsten 1940’s, winged, button-back armchair has been re-built from the base up. It is reupholstered in a delicious Designers Guild boucle; incredibly luxurious and soft to the touch.

Hours of work were spent stripping this chair back to its ‘skeleton’. It has been re-webbed, re-sprung and lashed, and has been padded with horsehair (held with bridle ties), fresh hessian, cotton felt and FR calico.

An exquisite design with a refined outline, brought back to its former glory.

“Furniture designer, interior architect, educator and founder of a number of craft schools. Carl Malmsten was one of the great cultural personalities of the 20th century, and is an icon within Swedish interior and furniture design history.”
