Description
A delightful armchair, c. 1930-1940, in fabric from Lelievre, Paris.
The chair is stained beech and has been traditionally restored and reupholstered in a beautiful, luxe-textured, fabric by Lelievre, Paris. Hand-finished with Houlès, Paris, studs.
Many hours were spent re-caning the back and the arms of the chair. The wood has been freshened up with French polish; just enough to give a gleam to the wood but without interfering with its original patina.
Now in its fourth generation, Lelievre is a design studio and creator of fine fabrics that was established in 1914 at 36 rue des Petits Champs.
In the 1980s, Lelievre exclusively distributed Alcantara; this is used today as a luxury lining in specific bag designs by Louis Vuitton, Paris.
In 1997, Lelievre acquired the iconic French company of Tassinari et Chatel.
