The fixed seat has been re-webbed and has new hessian, horsehair (held with bridle ties), fresh cotton felt and FR cotton calico. It has been expertly reupholstered in a rose coloured, fine linen by Inchyra and hand-finished with a trim by Houlès, Paris.

The American Arts and Crafts movement was at its height from 1900 to 1916. Designs were refined and simplified, turning away from the highly decorative style of the Victorian era.

Houlès designs and creates the finest of trimmings and fabrics. This family-owned company was formed in Paris, by father and son Félix and André Houlès, in 1928. The company, which began with one store at 18 rue Saint-Nicolas, is now established in over 160 countries.

Presidential residences and castles, such as le Château de Versailles, often select Houlès’ passements for their restoration projects.
